MGMT 345: Cultural Intelligence in Leadership and Management 3 Credits 

Globalization and technology have changed the way organizations interact with internal and external constituents. Leaders must strive to create an environment where individuals adapt in socially responsible ways in order to foster the growth of global citizens. This course explores the realm of cultural intelligence or cultural quotient (CQ) and its importance in developing an inclusive approach to leadership and management. Through an experiential learning approach, students will develop skills that will aid in their ability to appreciate, manage, lead, and work with individuals across a multitude of cultural identities.

International Cultures (IL) Course

Enforced Prerequisite at Enrollment: ECON 102 or ECON 104 

    • The course delivery format prior to travel will be web-based.




Experiential Learning on a Global Scale: Witnessing company facilities domestically and internationally is an important learning aspect of this course as it provides firsthand insights into cultural competency's influence on global business practices, fostering students' understanding of cultural sensitivity and adaptability

This limited-availability course has an application process and students must receive approval prior to registration. Interested students need to have a Penn State faculty member complete a reference form on their behalf. Additionally, students must submit a Personal Statement detailing how this course will benefit them personally and professionally
