The UW Student Veteran Study Abroad Program to the Netherlands offers veteran students a unique opportunity to enhance their cultural competencies through immersive experiences and exposure to diverse cultural activities. Participants will attend an intensive 4-Day Design Thinking Boot Camp at the renowned Design Thinkers Academy in the Netherlands, where they will engage in hands-on learning and collaborative problem-solving. This program is designed to broaden participants' perspectives, foster a deeper understanding of global cultures, and equip them with innovative skills that are valuable in both personal and professional settings. This unique program provides veteran students with a transformative experience that goes beyond traditional academic learning. By immersing themselves in a different cultural environment and engaging with diverse perspectives, participants gain valuable cultural competencies that are increasingly vital in our globalized world. The program's focus on Design Thinking empowers 3. students to tackle complex challenges creatively and collaboratively, skills that are essential for personal and professional success. Additionally, the unique blend of cultural immersion and intensive academic training helps build adaptive leadership qualities, enhancing the students' ability to thrive in diverse and dynamic settings.

Thomas K. “T.K.” Stoudt, a dynamic Strategic Planning Consultant and an adjunct professor at the University of Wyoming, combines his wealth of experience with a deep commitment to educational development and advocacy. As a college Division II umpire, T.K. also brings a unique perspective to his diverse professional portfolio. He is a passionate advocate for adult learners, tirelessly working to enhance their access to education and economic security.
T.K.'s remarkable career includes 32 years of dedicated service in the US Air Force, retiring as a combat veteran. His expertise is particularly notable in the area of Student Veterans/Service Members (SVSM), where he specializes in facilitating their success through education, advising, outreach, and transition services.
Holding a Master's in Adult Education from Tusculum University, Tennessee (2001), T.K. is now advancing his academic journey as a doctoral student at Colorado State University. His studies focus on Organizational Learning, Performance, and Change. His research interests are multifaceted, encompassing student-veteran transition, relational leadership theory, prior learning assessment, and now extending to Veterans Critical Theory.
T.K. has made significant contributions to military education, teaching Faculty Development Courses for both Air Force and Army University ROTC Cadre. He has led cadre faculty learning communities at the University of Wyoming and the University of Louisville. During the COVID-19 pandemic, T.K. played a pivotal role with the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning (ECTL), guiding faculty in the transition to online teaching methodologies as part of the University of Wyoming's Academic Contingency Plan.
Currently, T.K. teaches four undergraduate Veteran Cohort Courses at the University of Wyoming. His dedication to inspiring intellectual engagement was recognized when he received the 2022 PIE award, a testament to his ability to stimulate excitement, inquiry, and autonomy in first-year courses.
In his personal life, T.K. enjoys the companionship of his lovely wife, Carrie, in Laramie, Wyoming. His daughter, Nicole, continues the family's legacy of service, currently in her 20th year with the Reno, NV Air National Guard as a C-130 Combat Systems Officer.
